Senate
Hundred-member legislative body
The Senate is the upper house of the United States Congress, with two senators from each state regardless of population.
The term also refers to equivalent bodies elsewhere: the Canadian Senate, the French Senate.
When context is clear, the Senate alone usually means the U.S. body: The bill passed the Senate but stalled in the House. (Lowercase senate is the generic term.)
