Polaris

Navigator's celestial guide

Polaris is the North Star—the bright star nearly aligned with Earth's rotational axis, making it appear fixed while other stars rotate around it.

For centuries, navigators used Polaris to find true north and determine latitude.

The name comes from Latin for "pole star." Figuratively, a Polaris is any guiding light or fixed point of reference: She was his Polaris through difficult times.
