POD

Three-letter publishing term

POD is an acronym with several uses.

In publishing and manufacturing, it stands for print on demand or production on demand—goods made only when ordered rather than kept in inventory.

In shipping, POD means proof of delivery.

In medicine, it can abbreviate postoperative day: The patient was discharged on POD 3. (Lowercase pod is a seed case or group of whales.)
