monopod

One-legged camera support

A monopod is a single-legged support, typically a pole used to steady a camera or other equipment.

Unlike a tripod's three legs, a monopod offers less stability but greater portability and speed of setup: Sports photographers favor monopods for their mobility.

The term also describes a mythical one-legged creature, though this sense is rare outside classical references.
