Popocatepetl
Aztec smoking mountain
Popocatépetl is an active volcano in central Mexico, near Mexico City and Puebla.
Its name comes from Nahuatl words meaning "smoking mountain." Often called "Popo" for short, it rises over 17,000 feet and remains one of North America's most active volcanoes, with periodic eruptions prompting evacuations of nearby communities.
