Mount Kenya
Equatorial African peak
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, rising to 5,199 meters (17,057 feet).
Located near the equator, its peaks are permanently snow-capped despite the tropical latitude, and the mountain supports distinct ecological zones from rainforest to alpine.
The mountain holds cultural significance for the Kikuyu and other local peoples, who traditionally considered it a sacred dwelling place of their god.
We could see Mount Kenya from Nairobi on clear days.
