Flux

Flux is a state of continuous change or flow.
Rivers are in flux; so are situations, opinions, and markets.
In physics, flux measures the rate at which something passes through a surface—magnetic flux, heat flux.
In metallurgy and soldering, flux is a substance that promotes the fusion of metals by preventing oxidation: Apply flux before soldering the joint.
The verb means to treat with flux or to flow.
