immobility

Absence of movement

Immobility is the state of not moving or being unable to move.

Physical immobility may result from injury, illness, or restraint: The patient's immobility after surgery increased the risk of blood clots.

Figurative immobility describes stagnation or paralysis—an organization's immobility in the face of change, or the immobility of someone frozen by indecision.
