intermedia
Cross-disciplinary art form
Intermedia refers to art forms that fall between or combine traditional media categories—work that exists in the spaces between painting and sculpture, between music and theater, between visual art and poetry.
The term gained currency in the 1960s to describe experimental work that couldn't be classified within existing categories: happenings, Fluxus events, concrete poetry, and similar hybrid forms.
The piece was pure intermedia—part installation, part performance, part film.
