English longbow

Tall yew bow

An English longbow is a tall wooden bow, traditionally made of yew, that was the dominant military weapon in medieval England.

Longbowmen were decisive at battles like Crécy and Agincourt.

The bow required years of training and tremendous physical strength to draw.

Modern archers still use longbows for traditional shooting and competition.
