A shortbow is a bow of relatively small size, typically under five feet, designed for use in confined spaces or from horseback.
Compared to longbows, shortbows sacrifice range and power for portability and quick handling.
The term appears most often in fantasy games and historical discussions of archery: The ranger switched to her shortbow in the tight corridor.
