Spitfire
Iconic warbird name
The Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that became iconic during World War II, particularly in the Battle of Britain.
Its elliptical wings and exceptional maneuverability made it a symbol of British resistance: My grandfather flew Spitfires during the war.
The name evokes both the aircraft's aggressive firepower and the fighting spirit of its pilots. (Lowercase spitfire describes a fiery-tempered person.)
