flatbow
Rectangular-limbed archery weapon
A flatbow is a type of bow with wide, flat limbs that are rectangular in cross-section, as opposed to the rounded limbs of a longbow.
The design distributes stress more evenly across the limb, allowing use of various woods: Traditional flatbows were common among Native American archers.
Modern recurve bows often incorporate flatbow limb geometry.
