Day of Atonement

Jewish fasting holiday

Day of Atonement is the English name for Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism.

Falling in autumn, it is a day of fasting, prayer, and repentance—a time to seek forgiveness for sins committed during the past year.

The day concludes the ten Days of Awe that begin with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
