sundown
Day's final light
Sundown is the time when the sun disappears below the horizon—synonymous with sunset but more common in American English.
It marks the end of daylight: We need to finish before sundown.
In Jewish observance, sundown begins the new day, so holidays start at sundown.
Sundown towns were communities that excluded Black people after dark.
