pondering
Weighing things mentally
Pondering is deep or careful thinking about something, often with no immediate resolution in sight.
Where thinking can be quick, pondering suggests sustained consideration: She sat pondering the decision for hours.
The word carries a meditative quality—you ponder weighty matters, not what to have for lunch.
