Havdalah

Week begins again

Havdalah is the Jewish ritual that separates Shabbat from the ordinary week, performed on Saturday evening after nightfall.

It includes blessings over wine, aromatic spices, and a special multi-wicked candle, often followed by songs.

The word comes from Hebrew for "separation" or "distinction." The children love holding the havdalah candle. (Lowercase havdalah is the same ceremony.)
