Buddhahood

Complete spiritual liberation

Buddhahood is the state of complete spiritual awakening in Buddhist tradition—the condition of having attained enlightenment as the Buddha did.

It represents liberation from the cycle of suffering and rebirth, and perfect wisdom and compassion.

In some Buddhist schools, Buddhahood is the ultimate goal available to all beings: The bodhisattva vows to help all sentient beings achieve Buddhahood.
