Bridget
Celtic woman's name
Bridget is a traditional Irish female given name, from the Celtic goddess Brigid.
It was once among the most common names for Irish women, to the point that "Biddy" (a nickname for Bridget) became a generic term for an Irish maidservant in 19th-century America and Britain.
The name remains in use but is less popular today.
Bridget was named after her grandmother.
