Saint Peter
Keys to paradise
Saint Peter is the foremost of Jesus's twelve apostles, recognized as the first leader of the Christian church.
His original name was Simon; Jesus renamed him Peter (from Greek *petra*, rock), saying "upon this rock I will build my church." Catholics consider him the first pope.
Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome is named for him, and he traditionally guards heaven's gates: Will Saint Peter let me in?
