AM radio
Oldies broadcast band
AM radio is radio broadcasting that uses amplitude modulation—varying the strength of the radio wave rather than its frequency.
AM was the dominant form of radio through most of the 20th century before FM largely displaced it for music.
AM stations now primarily carry talk shows, news, and sports: I listen to AM radio on my commute.
The AM band picks up more interference but travels farther, especially at night.
