AM
Early clock hours
AM designates the hours from midnight to noon—ante meridiem, Latin for "before midday": The flight leaves at 6 AM.
Also written A.M. or a.m.
Separately, AM stands for amplitude modulation, a radio broadcasting method: AM radio, the AM dial.
AM stations typically carry talk shows and news rather than music. (Lowercase am is a form of "be.")
