frequency modulation
Waveform pitch variation
Frequency modulation is a method of encoding information in a radio signal by varying the frequency of the carrier wave rather than its amplitude.
FM radio uses this technique, producing clearer sound with less static than AM (amplitude modulation): The station broadcasts on the FM band.
Abbreviated FM.
