airwaves

Radio transmission space

The airwaves are radio frequencies used for broadcasting.

The term treats the electromagnetic spectrum as a shared medium through which signals travel: The song dominated the airwaves all summer.

Though technically imprecise—radio waves aren't "air"—the word evokes public broadcast space: politicians flooding the airwaves with attack ads.
