time-travel
Visit other eras
Time-travel is movement to a different point in time—forward to the future or backward to the past.
The concept belongs mostly to science fiction, where characters use machines, wormholes, or other devices to visit other eras: The novel involves time-travel to medieval England.
As a verb, to time-travel is to make such a journey.
The hyphenated form distinguishes the concept from ordinary travel through time, which we all do at one second per second.
