predestination
God's eternal decree
Predestination is the theological doctrine that God has already determined all events, including who will be saved and who will be damned.
The concept is central to Calvinist Christianity, which holds that salvation cannot be earned through good works but is granted only to those God has chosen in advance.
More loosely, predestination suggests that the course of one's life is fixed beforehand by fate or divine will.
She believed predestination meant her choices were already made for her.
