tic-tac-toe
Three-in-a-row contest
Tic-tac-toe is a simple game played on a three-by-three grid, where two players alternate marking squares with X's and O's, trying to place three in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Often a child's first strategy game, it quickly becomes repetitive once players learn that optimal play always ends in a draw.
Also spelled tick-tack-toe.
In British English, noughts and crosses.
