Marks the spots
Xs is the plural of X.
As a letter, Xs mark spots on maps, indicate wrong answers, or stand in for signatures.
In tic-tac-toe, one player takes Xs while the other takes Os.
Xs can represent kisses at the end of messages, often paired with Os for hugs: xoxo.
To X something out is to cross it off or cancel it; Xs are the marks left behind.
