A schoolyard is the outdoor area adjacent to a school building where children play during recess and lunch breaks.
The term often modifies other nouns to suggest childish or unsophisticated behavior: a schoolyard bully, schoolyard taunts, schoolyard antics.
The argument devolved into schoolyard name-calling.
