even
Tied, no advantage
Even functions mainly as an adjective and adverb.
Its adjectival meanings are varied but all of them center around the idea of equality and uniformity, as in an even surface or an even exchange.
As an adverb, even is often an intensive whose purpose is to emphasize any of several features of meaning.
In these usages even is usually required, there being no other word in English that does the same work: You didn’t even apologize to her, this pie is even better than the one we had yesterday.
