tibialis
Lower leg muscle
Tibialis refers to muscles of the lower leg associated with the tibia, the larger shinbone.
The tibialis anterior runs down the front of the shin and lifts the foot; the tibialis posterior runs along the back and supports the arch.
These muscles control foot movement during walking and running: My tibialis anterior is sore from hiking downhill.
