thiopental

Surgical sedation drug

Thiopental is a barbiturate drug used as a general anesthetic and, historically, as a "truth serum" in interrogations.

It induces unconsciousness rapidly when injected intravenously, making it useful for surgical induction.

Thiopental has also been used in lethal injection protocols for executions.

The anesthesiologist administered thiopental before the procedure.
