phenobarbital
Sedative barbiturate drug
Phenobarbital is a barbiturate drug used to treat seizures and, less commonly, anxiety or insomnia.
It works by depressing the central nervous system.
One of the oldest anticonvulsants still in use, it remains on the World Health Organization's list of essential medicines: The doctor prescribed phenobarbital to control her epilepsy.
