texts
Short phone messages
Texts are written works, especially those studied for their content: religious texts, literary texts, legal texts.
A text is also the main body of a book apart from notes or illustrations.
In education, a text is a textbook.
Most commonly now, texts are messages sent between phones: I'll send you a text when I get there.
The verb means to send such a message: She was texting during dinner.
