crianza
Spanish wine designation
Crianza is a Spanish term for the aging process of wine, particularly in Spain.
A wine labeled crianza has been aged for a minimum period—typically two years, with at least six months in oak barrels.
The word literally means "raising" or "nurturing," reflecting the idea that wine develops and matures over time: This Rioja crianza has nice vanilla notes from the oak.
