boysenberry

Knott's farm berry

A boysenberry is a large, dark purple berry—a hybrid of raspberry, blackberry, and loganberry.

It has a tangy-sweet flavor and soft texture, used in jams, pies, and syrups: boysenberry pie, boysenberry jam.

The fruit was developed in California in the 1920s and named after its creator, Rudolph Boysen.
