cassis
Dark berry cordial
Cassis is a sweet, dark liqueur made from blackcurrants, most associated with French production.
It appears most often in the cocktail kir, where it's mixed with white wine, or kir royale with champagne: Add a splash of cassis to the wine.
The word is also used for the blackcurrant flavor itself in foods and beverages. (Capitalized Cassis is a town in southern France.)
