subclavian vein

Under-collarbone blood channel

The subclavian vein is a large vein running beneath the collarbone on each side of the body, draining blood from the arm and shoulder region back toward the heart.

It joins with the internal jugular vein to form the brachiocephalic vein.

The subclavian vein is a common site for central venous catheter placement.
