first rib
Uppermost chest bone
The first rib is the topmost and shortest of the twelve pairs of ribs, curving tightly beneath the collarbone.
It attaches to the first thoracic vertebra and the sternum, helping form the narrow upper opening of the rib cage.
Because of its position, the first rib is rarely fractured except in severe trauma.
