hematoma
Clotted blood mass
A hematoma is a localized collection of blood outside the blood vessels, typically caused by injury or surgery.
Unlike a bruise, which spreads diffusely through tissue, a hematoma forms a distinct pocket or swelling: The blow left a large hematoma on his forehead.
Hematomas can occur anywhere in the body—under the skin, in muscles, or around the brain.
