hemodialysis
Kidney failure treatment
Hemodialysis is a medical procedure that filters waste and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys can no longer perform this function.
Blood is drawn from the body, passed through a machine that removes toxins, and returned to circulation.
Patients with kidney failure typically undergo hemodialysis several times weekly: She goes to the clinic for hemodialysis three times a week.
