venule
Small blood channel
A venule is a tiny vein, one of the smallest branches of the venous system.
Venules collect blood from capillaries and merge into progressively larger veins that return blood to the heart.
The term appears almost exclusively in medical and anatomical contexts: The biopsy showed inflammation of the venules.
