striped bass
Atlantic coastal catch
Striped bass is a large silvery fish with dark horizontal stripes along its sides, prized by both commercial and sport fishers along the Atlantic coast of North America.
The flesh is firm and mild-flavored.
Often shortened to striper: We caught three stripers off the jetty.
