sperm cells
Fertilizing reproductive units
Sperm cells are the male reproductive cells in animals and some plants, designed to fertilize an egg.
Each sperm carries half the genetic material needed to create offspring.
In humans and other mammals, sperm are produced in the testes and delivered through ejaculation.
The singular is sperm cell; sperm alone works as both singular and plural: The sperm swim toward the egg.
