cryopreservation
Ultra-cold biological storage
Cryopreservation is the process of preserving biological material—cells, tissues, organs, or whole organisms—by cooling to very low temperatures, typically using liquid nitrogen.
At these temperatures, biological activity essentially stops, allowing indefinite storage.
The technique is used for sperm, eggs, embryos, blood, and stem cells: The clinic offers cryopreservation of embryos for future use.
