conceive

Form an idea

Conceive means to form something in the mind—an idea, a plan, an image.

I can't conceive of a reason to refuse.

The word also means to become pregnant: They conceived their first child that summer.

The connection is generative: whether mental or physical, conceive is about bringing something new into being.
