egg cells
Fertilization awaits them
Egg cells are the female reproductive cells—the larger, non-motile gametes that combine with sperm to form embryos.
In humans and other mammals, egg cells are produced in the ovaries.
The term is slightly more technical than *eggs* alone but less formal than *ova*: The fertility treatment stimulates the ovaries to produce multiple egg cells.
