spaceprobe

Robotic planetary scout

A spaceprobe is an unmanned spacecraft designed to explore celestial bodies or regions of space, gathering data and transmitting it back to Earth.

Probes have visited planets, moons, asteroids, and comets, and some have left the solar system entirely: The Voyager spaceprobes are now in interstellar space.

Usually written as two words: space probe.
