radiometer

Measures radiant intensity

A radiometer is an instrument for detecting or measuring radiant energy, especially electromagnetic radiation like light or heat.

The familiar desktop radiometer—a glass bulb containing vanes that spin when exposed to light—is actually a Crookes radiometer, a novelty demonstrating the effects of light on surfaces.

Scientific radiometers measure radiation intensity for meteorology, astronomy, and climate research.
