MESSENGER
NASA Mercury probe
A messenger is a person who carries messages or packages from one place to another.
The word extends to anything that conveys or signals: a messenger RNA carries genetic instructions, a messenger bag slings across the body for urban mobility.
In older usage, messengers brought news—often bad: Don't shoot the messenger.
Digital messaging has spawned messenger as shorthand for messaging apps: Send it to me on messenger.
